WHO IS THAT

Nick Caldwell is a tech exec with more than 20 years of experience, active board member, and venture capital investor.

Nick has a passion for social media. He was formerly the General Manager for Core Technologies at Twitter, overseeing a 2,000 person team. He also led Reddit through hyper-scale as the VP of Engineering.

Nick is responsible for two of the most prominent business intelligence platforms in recent years. He spent 13 years at Microsoft, culminating in a role as General Manager of the Power BI product family where he rapidly transformed the company's BI suite.  Later, he became Chief Product Officer at Looker which was acquired by Google for $2.6B.

His board work includes: 
HubSpot, a publicly traded company specializing in CRM; Bitly, the market leader in URL shortening and analytics; and  True, a leading executive recruiting firm. 

Nick holds a degrees in computer science and electrical engineering from MIT and an MBA from U.C. Berkeley Haas. His charitable work includes board membership for /dev/color: a non-profit whose mission is to maximize the impact of Black software engineers.

 

Nick is a native of P.G. County Maryland, but is happy to call San Francisco home.

Reddit is the world's largest collection of online communities and 5th most visit website. Rapidly scaled a 35 person engineering organization to more than 150. Accomplishments: site-wide redesign, mobile applications, creation of data pipeline / experimentation platform, launch of ad platform, replacement of Search backend, video streaming service, and more. Also responsible for IT and two product teams. Learned about hypergrowth and monetizing cat pictures.
